Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium Statement of Intent
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium Grant (PP), which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. Schools are free to target the PP to best meet the needs of vulnerable children in their specific context. They are accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support students from low-income families.
Our long terms aims are:
All children are provided with the means to make good progress across the curriculum, no matter their background. Pupils are from a range of differing social and economic backgrounds with differing starting points in learning and varying barriers. We aim to provide high quality first teaching and support so that those barriers are fully identified to ensure all pupils at Middleforth can reach their full potential and are able to engage fully in all parts of school life.
This is achieved through a ‘5-step’ approach:
1. Identifying the challenges faces by school’s disadvantaged pupils
2. Using evidence
3. Developing an effective strategy
4. Delivering and monitoring that strategy
5. Evaluating and sustaining the strategy
